Columbus Dance Theatre Announces eighth Annual Columbus Dances Fellowship in Partnership with the Greater Columbus Arts Council
Columbus Dance Theatre, in partnership with the Greater Columbus Arts Council, announces the Eighth Annual Columbus Dances Fellowship. The fellowship awards are designed to support local choreographers in their efforts to create new dance in the Columbus community. Fellowships will be awarded to five (5) choreographers whose work will be presented as an extension of Columbus Dance Theatre’s annual community dance concert, Columbus Dances Fellowship Concert. Monetary and space grants will be awarded as part of the fellowships.
“We are so pleased to be able to continue to support the dance community in this manner,” said CDT Artistic Director Tim Veach. “CDT is grateful to Greater Columbus Arts Council for their continued support in this effort to ensure a vital and vibrant landscape for new dance in Columbus.”
The fellowships are supported with funds from the Greater Columbus Arts Council and administrative and artistic resources from Columbus Dance Theatre.
HOW TO APPLY:
An open adjudication will be held with 3 adjudicators. Adjudicators will be recognized leaders in the arts community. This panel will then make award determinations. Choreographers will create new, original dances of 7-15 minutes in length in any style. Dances can be solo or group works. 5 Choreographers will be chosen by the panel to participate in a weekend of concerts at Columbus Dance Theatre. Choreographers must reside in Franklin County and be at least 18 years of age to be eligible for consideration. Applicants can not be full-time students. Applicants will register for an adjudication time slot by calling CDT at: 614-849-0227 by January 12th of 2018 or by contacting CDT through email at: email@example.com. The adjudication will occur at CDT at 592 E Main St. on Sunday, February 4th beginning at 3:00 p.m. It is recommended that choreographers show at least 3 minutes of work in progress at the time of the adjudication. Finished dances may be shown, but they must not have been previously produced in another venue.
The Columbus Dances Fellowship Concert will be held at CDT’s Fisher Theatre on March 30th @ 8pm; and March 31st @ 3 pm and 8 pm. These performances are free to the public. To make a reservation please contact us at (614)849-0227 or through email at firstname.lastname@example.org
